\/>\nFighting the darkness and furious,<br \/>\noh, but I once more fall into the song&#8230;<br \/>\njust the normal unconsciousness;<br \/>\ncould that be wrong?<br \/>\nAll out into action then all down into sleep &#8211;<br \/>\ncheck that attraction, it must be more than skin deep.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve checked the twenty-four hours,<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve done the stay-up-all-night;<br \/>\nin a certain way that&#8217;s power,<br \/>\nbut it&#8217;s not wired up right.<br \/>\nUp for the pleasure, then it&#8217;s dead to the world;<br \/>\nour lives surely measured by the unconscious third&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Living on Paradox Drive,<br \/>\nwe must be living on Paradox Drive.<\/p>\n<p>The thought crossed my mind, how curious &#8211;<br \/>\nwhy should I want so much shut-eye?<br \/>\nFighting the darkness and furious&#8230;<br \/>\noh, but I once more dropped off to the deep,<br \/>\nthe sweet comfort of a life on my own, asleep.<br \/>\nUp for the pleasure or dead to the world,<br \/>\na life surely measured by the unconscious third&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Living on Paradox Drive,<br \/>\nwe must be living on Paradox Drive.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve checked the twenty-four hours,<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve done the stay-up-all-night;<br \/>\nin a certain way that&#8217;s power,<br \/>\nbut it&#8217;s not wired up right,<br \/>\nit still isn&#8217;t right.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"2\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>The Unconscious Life<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m in command,<br \/>\nI&#8217;m in control,<br \/>\nI am the captain of my soul.<br \/>\nStill, I&#8217;m uncertain in one major role&#8230;<br \/>\noh, I drift through the unconscious life,<br \/>\nshift through the unconscious life,<br \/>\nlift up my unconscious eyes:<br \/>\nbeyond all normal pain and pleasure<br \/>\nwe should treasure the unconscious life.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve got our reasons for most things we do,<br \/>\nwe could surely rationalise them through.<br \/>\nA false ring of confidence<br \/>\nwould characterise us true &#8211;<br \/>\noh, we&#8217;re deep in the unconscious life<br \/>\nasleep in the unconscious life,<br \/>\npeeping through unconscious eyes.<br \/>\nBeyond all normal pain and pleasure<br \/>\nwe should treasure,<br \/>\ntreasure the unconscious,<br \/>\ntreasure the unconscious life.<\/p>\n<p>Something makes me nervous,<br \/>\nsomething makes me twitch,<br \/>\nsomething makes me scratch that Pavlovian itch,<br \/>\n(Wonder what that is now&#8230;?)<br \/>\nSomeone that I barely know must unpick the stitch<br \/>\nto unravel the unconscious life,<br \/>\ntravel the unconscious life,<br \/>\ngather the unconscious eye&#8230;<br \/>\nfar from shedding light on any motive<br \/>\nthe candle is votive when it burns at both ends.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not in command,<br \/>\nI&#8217;m out of control,<br \/>\nI am the Ship&#8217;s Boy of my soul&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, we drift through the unconscious life,<br \/>\nshift through the unconscious life,<br \/>\nlive through the unconscious life.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Accidents<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This meeting is a coincidence<br \/>\nwhich deserves a second look:<br \/>\nwe&#8217;ve seen the chapter of accidents<br \/>\nbecome the longest in the book.<br \/>\nI see your face in the picture for better or worse,<br \/>\nall power to the accident!<\/p>\n<p>Oh, the sweetest is the one I&#8217;m holding in my arms<br \/>\nand the fleetest is the one who survives<br \/>\nbut the meetest is the one who&#8217;s running on the spot<br \/>\nwhere the accident&#8217;s about to arrive.<br \/>\nI know my place on the planet, chapter and verse,<br \/>\nall part of the accident.<\/p>\n<p>I know my place in the story, a line of blank verse,<br \/>\na part of the accident.<\/p>\n<p>No system worth its salt<br \/>\nlays all its cards upon the table;<br \/>\nno discipline of thought<br \/>\nwill render me more able<br \/>\nto buck those random \/>\nlet&#8217;s not bother with the words.<br \/>\nOh, bring on the clowns, bring on the night,<br \/>\npour me double vision in black and white.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m falling, falling &#8211;
