Over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name=\"1\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Crying Wolf<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You turn out the lights and sit alone,<br \/>\ntrying to pretend that it&#8217;s anguish,<br \/>\nstart at the ring of a telephone,<br \/>\nthrow down all your food at the banquet,<br \/>\nkeep a close eye on all you own,<br \/>\nwhile leaving it all to languish&#8230;.<br \/>\nIs this what makes you happy?<br \/>\nIs this what brings you joy?<br \/>\nYour excuses are so crappy&#8230;<br \/>\nsilly boy.<\/p>\n<p>You take all the love and throw it aside<br \/>\nto wallow in your sorrow,<br \/>\nexpect everyone to know how you feel inside,<br \/>\nto forgive and forget come tomorrow;<br \/>\nrepaying all your debts with uncommon pride<br \/>\nbut denying that you ever borrowed&#8230;.<br \/>\nIs this what makes you perfect?<br \/>\nIs this what makes you free?<br \/>\nJust how long did you rehearse it,<br \/>\nor does it just come naturally?<\/p>\n<p>Crying wolf from the depth of your sheep&#8217;s heart,<br \/>\ncrying fire from the depth of the well<br \/>\nin an endless parade of repeat starts,<br \/>\njust how long will it last &#8211; can you tell?<\/p>\n<p>Until all your friends and lovers<br \/>\nare simply bored with the pretence?<br \/>\nIt&#8217;ll be too late then to discover<br \/>\njust exactly what you meant<br \/>\nand what was true<br \/>\nand what was false&#8230;<br \/>\nthe wolf turned into human,<br \/>\nthe killer with remorse.<\/p>\n<p>Crying pain as though that should be pleasure,<br \/>\ncrying anger as though that should be revenge,<br \/>\ncrying sorrow as though that were a treasure &#8211;<br \/>\nyour treasure will find you in the end.<\/p>\n<p>When all of your friends have gone away,<br \/>\nunwilling to put up with the danger<br \/>\nthat lies in each spiteful word you say,<br \/>\nyou&#8217;ll be left, a greying wolf in a manger<br \/>\nand when you&#8217;ve raised your last howl<br \/>\nand destroyed all that you can<br \/>\nwith rotting teeth an slack jowls<br \/>\nyou&#8217;ll be left a lonely man.<br \/>\nAnd when it&#8217;s nearly finished<br \/>\nand you know the end is near<br \/>\nwith true sorrow undiminished<br \/>\nthere&#8217;ll be no-one left to hear&#8230;.<br \/>\nYour desperate cries,<br \/>\nthey all come out as bleats:<br \/>\nyou thought you were a wolf-man,<br \/>\nbut you&#8217;re really<br \/>\njust a sheep.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"2\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Autumn<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So here we are, alone &#8211;<br \/>\nour children have grown up and moved away.<br \/>\nliving their own lives, they say&#8230;<br \/>\nit all seems very strange to me.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t understand their ways:<br \/>\nour children amaze me all the time<br \/>\nand I often wonder why they make me feel<br \/>\nso sad and suddenly old.<\/p>\n<p>Now we&#8217;re left with an empty home,<br \/>\nfrom our nest all the birds have flown for foreign skies.<br \/>\nWe&#8217;re discarded, of no further use,<br \/>\nthough we gave our kids all our youth and all our lives &#8211;<br \/>\nwe really tried.<\/p>\n<p>Now there&#8217;s only my wife and me;<br \/>\nwe used to have a family &#8211; now that&#8217;s gone<br \/>\nand only memories linger on&#8230;<br \/>\nit all seems very wrong to me.<\/p>\n<p>To our sorrows they were quite deaf<br \/>\nand as soon as they could they left us to our tears.<br \/>\nWe always tried to teach what was good &#8211;<br \/>\nyes, we gave our kids all we could through all the years.<\/p>\n<p>So here we are at last;<br \/>\nthe time has gone so fast and so have my dreams.<br \/>\nI simply don&#8217;t know what it all means,<br \/>\nthis pointless passage through the night,<br \/>\nthis autumn-time, this walk upon the water&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder how long<br \/>\nit will be till this song<br \/>\nis sung by our own sons and daughters?<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Time Heals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thinking back, it seems that I<br \/>\ncan lie beside you as I never truly did,<br \/>\nin afterglow &#8211;<br \/>\nno afterwords at all.<br \/>\nOnly writing love songs when it&#8217;s gone and dead;<br \/>\nonly paying words out in strings of half-forgotten sentiments&#8230;<br \/>\nI mean&#8230;<br \/>\nI meant&#8230;<br \/>\nI never really quite could say the way it was.<\/p>\n<p>The first time that we met I said 'I bet that she&#8217;s the one&#8217;,<br \/>\nbut I was talking to myself then, as always.<br \/>\nAs time went by our steps entwined, unwritten lines drew taut<br \/>\nand I tried to find a way to make it all safe&#8230;.<br \/>\nInto the play &#8211; what a production! &#8211;<br \/>\ninto the days and ever more suction:<br \/>\nyou hold me close, but hold me farther<br \/>\naway from yourself &#8211; I make me a martyr,<br \/>\nfor pain and love go hand in hand&#8230;.<br \/>\nAnd hand in hand go you and my friend,<br \/>\nyou are his and I am yours and just cannot evade you;<br \/>\nmy days a dream, my nights unseemly,<br \/>\nstolen moments all I live for,<br \/>\nbut theft is no way to persuade you<br \/>\nto come with me, leave him behind you;<br \/>\nmy hurtful eyes try to remind you<br \/>\nit&#8217;s all I can do to keep from screaming<br \/>\n'I love you, I love you!&#8217; they&#8217;re all harbouring knives<br \/>\nto embed in your back out of revenge, or spite,<br \/>\nor indifference, or lack of other things to do &#8211;<br \/>\nin the end just who&#8217;s going to be a friend for you<br \/>\nwhen they kick you in the guts just as your hand holds out the pearl?<br \/>\nIt seems that there is nothing left but<br \/>\nhatred and lust in the world.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t give a damn anymore &#8211; I&#8217;ve only wound up betrayed.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s all been absolutely worthless &#8211;<br \/>\nall the efforts I&#8217;ve made to be gentle and kind<br \/>\nare repaid with contempt,<br \/>\ndegraded by sympathy and worthless kindness<br \/>\nand love that isn&#8217;t meant.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m through with joy and company, I&#8217;ve done with pretty words,<br \/>\nbetrayed &#8211; there&#8217;s no hiding-place<br \/>\nanywhere in the world.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve nothing left to fight for except making my passion heard &#8211;<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t believe in anything<br \/>\nanywhere in the world.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"7\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>(On Tuesdays she used to do) Yoga<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesdays, she used to do yoga<br \/>\nwhile I&#8217;d sit and watch the box<br \/>\nin a vegetable way,<br \/>\nbut always ready to say<br \/>\nto myself that I was an artist,<br \/>\nimplying that she was not.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s funny the way that self-pity<br \/>\ncan take over from self-esteem &#8211;<br \/>\nwell, I was the prince of pride,<br \/>\nand though I&#8217;d cheat I never lied,<br \/>\nas if that were enough to make her happy,<br \/>\nas if that could satisfy her dreams.<\/p>\n<p>Too late now to say that I&#8217;m so sorry,<br \/>\ntoo late to say that I can change and mend<br \/>\nthe things that hurt.<br \/>\nShe didn&#8217;t need to worry,<br \/>\nshe always knew I&#8217;d get there in the end.<\/p>\n<p>Now I&#8217;m tying myself up in contortions,<br \/>\ndon&#8217;t know if yoga will do me any good.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s about time I tried,<br \/>\nthough I&#8217;d rather be inside from the cold,<br \/>\nstudying tantra &#8211;<br \/>\nstill, I never did that when I could.<\/p>\n<p>I never did the things that really mattered,<br \/>\nthere seemed to be some key I couldn&#8217;t find<br \/>\nto unlock myself;<br \/>\nI could have done it with her help,<br \/>\nbut I was too busy scrabbling for each moment &#8211;<br \/>\nnow I don&#8217;t know what I did with all the time.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes I&#8217;d play the wild rover,<br \/>\nsometimes I&#8217;d just get smashed all day&#8230;<br \/>\non Tuesdays she used to do yoga,<br \/>\non Tuesday she went away.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"8\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Lost and Found<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(Even the wolf can learn,<br \/>\neven the sheep can turn,<br \/>\neven the frog become at last the prince.)<\/p>\n<p>No more imagined insults<br \/>\nand no more bloated pride &#8211;<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll see you at the wedding,<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll see you on the other side<br \/>\nand I&#8217;ll hold my peace forever<br \/>\nbut I&#8217;ll hold my passion more&#8230;<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll be holding the door<br \/>\nand waiting for the princess &#8211;<br \/>\nI could say I&#8217;m waiting for the world<br \/>\nbut when it comes right down to it<br \/>\nI&#8217;m simply waiting for the girl.<br \/>\nOn through the ring of changes<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll be at my side in a single bound,<br \/>\nlost and found&#8230;<br \/>\nlooking to be lost and found.<\/p>\n<p>La Rossa extends her hands &#8211;<br \/>\nin the morning light the stigmata don&#8217;t show.<br \/>\nShe&#8217;s already up, making plans;<br \/>\nshe thinks it&#8217;s maybe time he ought to go.<br \/>\nAnd she&#8217;s friendly like it&#8217;s a service<br \/>\nbut she&#8217;s ringing round his head<br \/>\nthough he knows she has no further use for him<br \/>\nstill he feels like he&#8217;s raised from the dead.<br \/>\nOut to the cold grey daylight, never even wondering, of course,<br \/>\nif one moment of perfect passion is worth a lifetime of remorse.<\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s no more empty promises<br \/>\nand no more idle threats;<br \/>\nno more &#8222;if only&#8221;s<br \/>\nand no more &#8222;and yet&#8221;s;<br \/>\nno more wishes for the future,<br \/>\nno more denials of the past:<br \/>\nI&#8217;m free at last,<br \/>\nI&#8217;m in love at last.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m lost and found&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>(Put on your red dress, baby.<br \/>\n'Cause we&#8217;re going out tonight,<br \/>\nput on your high-heeled sneakers,<br \/>\nEverything&#8217;s going to be alright?)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#1\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/vdgg.art.pl\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/do-g\u00f3ry.png\" alt=\"Przewi\u0144 stron\u0119 do g\u00f3ry\" width=\"127\" height=\"51\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1372\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Crying Wolf You turn out the lights and sit alone, trying to pretend that it&#8217;s anguish, start at the ring of a telephone, throw down all your food at the banquet, keep a close eye on all you own, while &hellip;
