In Camera"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name=\"1\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Ferret &amp; Featherbird<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Time has come between us:<br \/>\nin the passing months I&#8217;ve felt you slip away<br \/>\nas your words and mine came like nursery rhymes<br \/>\ntill there was nothing left to say.<\/p>\n<p>Distance came between us long ago,<br \/>\nas our memories faded away&#8230;<br \/>\nover the miles I ceased to smile<br \/>\nbecause nothing felt the same.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s how it seemed a week ago,<br \/>\nfar off in time and space.<\/p>\n<p>Time and distance are between us now,<br \/>\nthey form a bond to make things sure.<br \/>\nNothing ever shatters,<br \/>\nyou know what happens:<br \/>\ntime and distance make a love secure.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"2\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>No More (the Sub-Mariner)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In my youth, I played at trains: now all steam is gone.<br \/>\nIn my dreams, brief shelter from the rain,<br \/>\nI try to catch the fireglow&#8230;.<br \/>\nWith Dinky Toys, I thought that I was Stirling,<br \/>\nwith cricket bat, I saw myself as Peter May;<br \/>\nnow, with all these images returning,<br \/>\nI wonder who I am today?<\/p>\n<p>As a child, I refought the war<br \/>\nwith plastic planes and imagination:<br \/>\nI sank Tirpitz, blew up the Mohne dam, all these and more,<br \/>\nI was the saviour of the Nation!<br \/>\nOh! To be the captain of a ship of war!<br \/>\nThe pilot of a Tempest or a York!<br \/>\nTo hold my trench against the Panzer Korps<br \/>\ninstead of simply being one who talks<br \/>\nand reminisces of his fantasies,<br \/>\nas though life was nothing but to lose&#8230;<br \/>\nthese only antecede the knowledge that, eventually,<br \/>\nhe must choose.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a hallmark of adulthood<br \/>\nthat our options diminish<br \/>\nas our faculties for choice increase,<br \/>\ntill we choose everything and nothing,<br \/>\ntoo late, at the finish.<\/p>\n<p>In my youth, I held belief: my faith and thought were strong.<br \/>\nBut now I&#8217;m stripped of every leaf,<br \/>\nand it robs me of the sight of right and wrong.<br \/>\nOh! To be the son of Che Guevara!<br \/>\nOne unit in the serried ranks of black!<br \/>\nA Papist or an Orangeman, a eunuch&#8230;<br \/>\nthen doubt would never cast the dagger in my back.<br \/>\nOh! To be King John or Douglas Bader,<br \/>\nHumphrey Bogart or Victor Mature!<br \/>\nWhich one is false and easy,<br \/>\nwhich one harder?<br \/>\nOf that,<br \/>\nof this,<br \/>\nof me<br \/>\nI&#8217;m really not too sure.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tapeworm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When I was a child they made me read<br \/>\nword-daggers of quiver and squirm;<br \/>\nnow in the stumbling dark I see<br \/>\nI am a worm, silently fruiting your garden,<br \/>\nmy sister ,my child .<br \/>\nNight casts ominous meanings on the purity of my soul<br \/>\nI feel devilish leanings I&#8217;m beginning to lose control<br \/>\nand the vortex sucks me in.<br \/>\nSteeped in sin I die<br \/>\nbut am reborn.<\/p>\n<p>I want to see the cosmos slip,<br \/>\nplanets and moons collide,<br \/>\nfeel gravity lose its grip&#8230;<br \/>\nit&#8217;s all inside<br \/>\nAll the dead husks are shattered,<br \/>\nmy life-blood, my world ripped apart<br \/>\nin the laughter of space<br \/>\nit&#8217;s all chaff blown out and lost.<br \/>\nNow I am making the pace<br \/>\nalthough I don&#8217;t know what tape I&#8217;ll cross&#8230;<br \/>\nmaybe catastrophe.<br \/>\nWhen I cross the line<br \/>\nI know that I will find myself<br \/>\nor maybe you.<\/p>\n<p>I am a man from the country of destruction,<br \/>\nI am a man a woman and a god,<br \/>\nI am my own weapon of kamikaze<br \/>\nand will one day cut through the<br \/>\nhidden knot<\/p>\n<p>Feed me honey and watch me rise<br \/>\nto the bait lying on the knife;<br \/>\nif you let me I can hypnotise your life.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s all really so simple,<br \/>\nmy lover, my twin.<br \/>\nHand in hand, sprinting down the highway,<br \/>\nrunning over the edge,<br \/>\non and on into our doomsday;<br \/>\nthere is no saving ledge<br \/>\nnor outgrown shrub.<br \/>\nIs this the way?<br \/>\nOut in a blaze of glory?<br \/>\nSome day I&#8217;ll find the answer<br \/>\nsome day I&#8217;ll<br \/>\nend the story.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"4\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Again<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/vdgg.art.pl\/portal\/teksty\/przeklady\/przeklady-ph-solo\/3-again\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-678\" style=\"margin-top: -8px; margin-bottom: -8px;\" alt=\"Przek\u0142ad\" src=\"http:\/\/vdgg.art.pl\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/pl.gif\" width=\"20\" height=\"12\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I stretch my hands,<br \/>\nclutch vacant laughter<br \/>\nin silence and sweet, sweet pain;<br \/>\nwithout demand,<br \/>\nbut with a longing<br \/>\nfor what will never come again.<\/p>\n<p>I smell your perfume<br \/>\non the sheets in the morning:<br \/>\nit lingers like the patterns<br \/>\non the window after rain,<br \/>\na past that lives,<br \/>\nif only for the present,<br \/>\nbut which is gone and will never come again.<\/p>\n<p>To your sad eyes,<br \/>\nturned away, mine say<br \/>\n'Do you? Did you? How?&#8217;<br \/>\nAs the darkness<br \/>\nslides away the day<br \/>\nshows what was<br \/>\nand makes what is now.<\/p>\n<p>I see your picture<br \/>\nas though it were a mirror<br \/>\nbut there&#8217;s no part of you<br \/>\noutside the frame<br \/>\nexcept the change that you gave to me:<br \/>\nthis will never come again.<\/p>\n<p>I am me,<br \/>\nI was so before you,<br \/>\nbut afterwards I am not the same.<br \/>\nYou are gone<br \/>\nand I am with you:<br \/>\nthis will never come again.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"5\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Faint-heart and the Sermon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With my face drained of colour<br \/>\nand my brain of blood,<br \/>\nlike Billy Budd<br \/>\nI&#8217;m lashed to the grating.<br \/>\nWith senses growing duller<br \/>\nand with quaking heart<br \/>\nI make a start<br \/>\nat temperature equating<br \/>\nand my lungs suck useless air.<\/p>\n<p>Like paraplegic dancers<br \/>\nin formation team<br \/>\nmy understanding seems<br \/>\nhidebound in its movements,<br \/>\ncontemplating answers<br \/>\nthat could break my bonds &#8211;<br \/>\nto be half wrong<br \/>\nwould be, in me, improvement&#8230;<br \/>\nbut my comprehensive faculties are impaired.<\/p>\n<p>And it seems absurd, but now all I&#8217;ve heard<br \/>\nfades in empty words and is worthless<br \/>\nas the Human Laugh rocks the cenotaph<br \/>\nbut the joke is half-true, and mirthless.<\/p>\n<p>Trying to trace a reason<br \/>\nfrom the spinning words<br \/>\nbut all I&#8217;ve heard<br \/>\nseem at odds with their meanings,<br \/>\nphonetically pleasing<br \/>\nbut delivered in such haste<br \/>\nthat in their place<br \/>\nmy mind commences screaming.<\/p>\n<p>On the verge of belief I crash onto the reef<br \/>\nand a cynical thief steals my senses.<br \/>\nSo I cling to the pew with dimensions askew,<br \/>\nand recognition refuses present tenses.<br \/>\nAll the lives of the saints demonstrate that my faint<br \/>\nis a minor complaint, but the end is<br \/>\nnowhere in sight.<br \/>\nWhy can&#8217;t I find me a way to go?<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t want to die in the nave,<br \/>\nbut I know it may be with me some day<br \/>\nso I&#8217;ve got to find a way I can save up<br \/>\nmy energies, and find a cause to pray<br \/>\nto something for something<br \/>\nto which I can give my creed.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d gladly succumb to the wave,<br \/>\nif I thought the water taught a way to light;<br \/>\nI&#8217;d gladly succumb &#8211; I&#8217;m not brave,<br \/>\nand it&#8217;s easy to believe what the preacher says<br \/>\nexcept for the conflict raging between my head<br \/>\nand my brain.<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t want to die, but just the same,<br \/>\nsome day&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Waiting for a moment<br \/>\nthat I know will come<br \/>\nwhen I&#8217;ll have to run<br \/>\nand find another sermon.<br \/>\nEveryman and Norman<br \/>\nand the talking priest&#8211;<br \/>\nstill, I am at least holding all the doors open.<br \/>\nInside me all outside is shared.<\/p>\n<p>As the cracked bells peal it all seems unreal<br \/>\nbut the seventh seal stays unbroken<br \/>\nand the Offertory plate tenders no escape &#8211;<br \/>\nstill I refuse to scrape up a token<br \/>\nof esteem for these false<br \/>\nalleyways of the course;<br \/>\nI must try to divorce sense from sensing.<br \/>\nTell me again,<br \/>\ntell me the way to go.<\/p>\n<p>So when I talk to myself<br \/>\nalthough I take good care to listen<br \/>\nmy heart grows ever more faint,<br \/>\nthere&#8217;s something missing?<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"6\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Comet, the Course, the Tail<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They say we are endowed with Free Will &#8211;<br \/>\nat least that justifies our need for indecision.<br \/>\nBut between our insticts and the lust to kill<br \/>\nwe bow our heads in submission.<br \/>\nThey say that no man is an island<br \/>\nbut then they say our castles are our homes;<br \/>\nit&#8217;s felt the choice is ours, between peace and violence&#8230;<br \/>\noh, yes, we choose, alone?<\/p>\n<p>While the comet spreads its tail across the sky<br \/>\nit nowhere near defines the course it flies,<br \/>\nnor does it find its own direction.<\/p>\n<p>Though the path of the comet be sure,<br \/>\nits constitution is not<br \/>\nso its meaning is possibly more<br \/>\nthan the tracing of a tail<br \/>\nin one brief shot at glory.<\/p>\n<p>Love and peace and individuality,<br \/>\nso order and society are man-made?<br \/>\nWar and hate and dark depravity,<br \/>\nor are we slaves?<br \/>\nChanneling aggressive energies,<br \/>\nthe Death Wish and the Will to survive,<br \/>\ninto finding and preserving enemies,<br \/>\nis that the only way we know that we&#8217;re alive?<\/p>\n<p>In the slaughterhouse all corpses smell the same,<br \/>\nwhether queens or pawns or innocents at the game;<br \/>\nin the cemetery a uniform cloaks the graves<br \/>\nexcept for outward pomp and circumstance.<\/p>\n<p>There is a time set in the calendar<br \/>\nwhen all reason seems barely enough<br \/>\nto sustain all the shooting stars:<br \/>\ntimes are rough.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m waiting for something to happen here,<br \/>\nit feels as though it&#8217;s long overdue&#8230;<br \/>\nmaybe a restatement of yesteryear<br \/>\nor something entirely new.<\/p>\n<p>And the knowledge that we gain in part<br \/>\nalways leads us closer to the very start,<br \/>\nand to the founding questions:<br \/>\nHow can I tell that the road signed to hell<br \/>\ndoesn&#8217;t lead up to heaven?<br \/>\nWhat can I say when, in some obscure way,<br \/>\nI am my own direction?<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"7\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gog<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some call me SATAN others have me GOD<br \/>\nsome name me NEMO&#8230;I am unborn.<br \/>\nSome speak of me in anagrams,<br \/>\nsome grieve upon my wrath&#8230;<br \/>\nthe ones who give me service<br \/>\nI grant my scorn.<br \/>\nMy words are<br \/>\n'Too late&#8217;, 'Never&#8217;, 'Impossible&#8217;, and 'Gone&#8217;;<br \/>\nmy home is in the sunset and the dawn.<br \/>\nMy Name is locked in silence,<br \/>\nsometimes it&#8217;s whispered out of spite.<br \/>\nAll gates are locked,<br \/>\nall doors are barred and bolted,<br \/>\nthere is no place for flight.<br \/>\nWill you not come to me<br \/>\nand love me for one more night?<\/p>\n<p>Some see me shining, others have me dull;<br \/>\ngun-metal and cut diamond -I am ALL.<br \/>\nSome swear they see me weeping<br \/>\nin the poppy-fields of France&#8230;<br \/>\nin the tumbling of the dice see them fall!<br \/>\nSome laugh and see me laughing<br \/>\ndown the corridors of power:<br \/>\nsome see my sign on Caesar and his pall.<br \/>\nMy face is robed in darkness,<br \/>\nsometimes you glimpse me in the shade,<br \/>\nAll friends have gone,<br \/>\nall calls are weak and wasted,<br \/>\nthere is no more to say.<br \/>\nWill you not crawl to me<br \/>\nand love me for one more day?<\/p>\n<p>Some wish me empty, others will me full,<br \/>\nsome crave of me infinity &#8211; I am NONE.<br \/>\nSome look for me in symbols,<br \/>\nsome trace my line in stars,<br \/>\nsome count my ways in numbers:<br \/>\nI am No One.<br \/>\nSome chronicle my movements,<br \/>\nmy colours and my clothes,<br \/>\nsome trace the work in progress<br \/>\n&#8211;
