The Aerosol Grey Machine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name=\"1\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Afterwards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You stare out in yellow eyes larger than my mind;<br \/>\nin viscous pools of joy, relaxing, we glide&#8230;<br \/>\nit&#8217;s all too beautiful<br \/>\nfor my mind to bear.<br \/>\nand, as we shimmer into sleep, something&#8217;s unshared.<\/p>\n<p>But, seeing the flower that was there yesterday,<br \/>\na tear forms just behind the soft peace of your shades&#8230;<br \/>\nThe world&#8217;s too lonely<br \/>\nfor a message to slip<br \/>\nbut between the dying rails of peace<br \/>\nyou trip.<\/p>\n<p>The petals that were blooming are just paper in your hand;<br \/>\nyour eyes, which were clear in the night, are opaque as you stand&#8230;<br \/>\nIt was too beautiful<br \/>\nfor it to last&#8230;<br \/>\nThese visions shimmer and fade out of<br \/>\nthe glass.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"2\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Orthenthian Street (Part I)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I feel a calling for the sea, I want to walk on the sand dunes&#8230;<br \/>\nI hope you&#8217;ll forgive me if I say I can&#8217;t take you:<br \/>\nat some times I&#8217;ve got to get away,<br \/>\nif just to get a break from the play<br \/>\nthat we&#8217;re all involved in.<\/p>\n<p>All the love I&#8217;m living now could have ended yesterday<br \/>\nif the snow had fallen too hard up there on the Motorway&#8230;<br \/>\nIf it happens, don&#8217;t feel sorry, I won&#8217;t feel alone:<br \/>\nit&#8217;s just another travelling zone<br \/>\nthat you can&#8217;t come on.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Orthenthian Street (Part II)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t stop for a second:<br \/>\nwe might see how silly we all are.<br \/>\nCan&#8217;t get out, even for a moment:<br \/>\nmight be hit by a passing car.<br \/>\nDreams shatter and fall into dust,<br \/>\nas long as we&#8217;re travelling I suppose they must.<br \/>\nBut, while we&#8217;re on the road, our days&#8217;ll be glowing;<br \/>\nand when we part, as you know we must,<br \/>\nwe&#8217;ll leave, just going<br \/>\never so slowly,<br \/>\never so slowly.<\/p>\n<p>Motorway signs flash past like flies,<br \/>\nit&#8217;s getting late and we&#8217;re going home.<br \/>\nWe all travel in parallel lines,<br \/>\nheading into the twilight zone.<br \/>\nAll I really want now is you by my side;<br \/>\nyes, it&#8217;s a sweet ride<br \/>\nwhile we&#8217;re still together.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, it&#8217;s a sunny day, and we&#8217;re off on our sea trip;<br \/>\nThe water may be cold in the bay,<br \/>\nbut we&#8217;re safe on our sailing ship,<br \/>\nand, if ice forms, you can walk home to land<br \/>\nand still cling to my hand<br \/>\nif you still want to&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"4\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I thought I&#8217;d give it up for good,<br \/>\n&#8217;cause none of my actions are understood.<br \/>\nI thought I&#8217;d really leave,<br \/>\nand my coming back&#8217;s something you&#8217;d never perceive.<br \/>\nI thought I&#8217;d make it;<br \/>\nYes, I really thought I&#8217;d make it,<br \/>\nbut then you smiled, you didn&#8217;t rile me,<br \/>\nnow I&#8217;m running back<br \/>\nrunning, running back.<\/p>\n<p>I saw a vision of a love long deceased<br \/>\nand a chilly wind coming from East.<br \/>\nI know I can say I did my best,<br \/>\nbut there were no more warm winds from the West.<br \/>\nStill I thought I&#8217;d make it;<br \/>\nYes, I really thought I&#8217;d make it,<br \/>\nbut then you smiled, you didn&#8217;t rile me,<br \/>\nnow I&#8217;m running back<br \/>\nrunning, running back.<\/p>\n<p>I thought you&#8217;d never be missed,<br \/>\nand I really believed we&#8217;d never share another kiss.<br \/>\nAnd I thought for the last time I&#8217;d touched your hand,<br \/>\nbut your love draws me back like quicksand.<br \/>\nStill I thought I&#8217;d make it;<br \/>\nYes, I really thought I&#8217;d make it,<br \/>\nbut then you smiled, you didn&#8217;t rile me,<br \/>\nnow I&#8217;m running back<br \/>\nrunning, running back.<\/p>\n<p>And now I&#8217;m coming yes home.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m coming home.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"5\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Into a Game<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I never thought it could come to this,<br \/>\nas you sit there crying,<br \/>\nhanging on with your fingertips<br \/>\nto something that&#8217;s already dead.<br \/>\nNow we&#8217;re into a game<br \/>\nand it&#8217;s all a bit strange.<\/p>\n<p>Once on a time we were sincere;<br \/>\nnow, we&#8217;re acting charades,<br \/>\nhiding behind cracked images<br \/>\nfrom other people&#8217;s stages;<br \/>\nnow, we&#8217;re into a game,<br \/>\nand it&#8217;s all a bit strange,<br \/>\nbut familiar, too&#8230;<br \/>\nthe rules never change; I know it, but do you?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve seen it all before,<br \/>\nand this play no longer moves me,<br \/>\nbut the closing of a door<br \/>\nis never easy.<\/p>\n<p>Look at the cards in your hands:<br \/>\nkings turned to jokers.<br \/>\nThere are no prizes for laughing:<br \/>\nsituation hopeless.<br \/>\nNow we&#8217;re into a game<br \/>\nand it&#8217;s all a bit strange,<br \/>\nbut familiar, too&#8230;<br \/>\nthe rules never change; But emotion is pent up inside,<br \/>\ntoo scared of dying again to live,<br \/>\nand meanwhile I must endure your<br \/>\nred-copper hair screaming like a<br \/>\nwater-baby black eyes stare<br \/>\nfrom my ceiling:<br \/>\nyou who I now truly know&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Now I cannot see too clearly<br \/>\nand already my trellis stands bare&#8230;<br \/>\nHow can I break free of these overclinging<br \/>\narms which entwine and enfold me?&#8230; And reach<br \/>\nto the clear blue sea?<br \/>\nI want you to know, but how can I<br \/>\ntell you?
